Azhagiya Tamizh Magan has been performing well at the box office, and Ilayathalapathy Vijay seems to be happy with the way the film has been doing at the ticket counters. Speaking to a leading online website, he said that Azhagiya Tamizh Magan was different attempts from him after his fans and friends have been recommend him to take up such different kind of roles. He says that he has not deviated from his usual formula and that Azhagiya Tamizh Magan still had his usual mix of comedy, fights, dance, romance and action although the treatment to the film was different from his other early films which were huge successes at the box office
It is said that when Bharhathan narrate the script of the film to him, he accepted to do it immediately because he got hooked instantly to the concept of the film. He also feels that the mega success of his previous film “Pokkiri” could have contributed to the sky high expectations for this film. He has also said that the film has been doing really well worldwide and it has been topping the list of the Deepavali releases, He expects the film to become profitable for its producer and distributors.
Vijay’s Kuruvi is said to be shaping out in a very good manner with the shooting progressing at a good swiftness.
Kuruvi is Vijay’s next action thriller. The film brings together the hit team of Ghilli, director Dharani, Vijay and Trisha.
Looking at the varying tastes of the cinema audience, it is believed that Vijay has suggested to Dharani that the larger than life action scenes in the film be toned down. The actor wants to bring back the delicacy in action as seen in Ghilli for Kuruvi as well.
Kuruvi is the debut production of Udhayanidhi, grandson of Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi. The music score is by Vidyasagar. Suman, Vivek, Manivannan, and Malavika are playing significant roles in the film.
Kuruvi is expected to hit the screens in 2008 for Tamil new year.
Vijay is the die hard fan of Super star Rajinikanth. He says that none in the industry can replace his place. He thinks Rajini is the one and only Super star in the industry.
During the launch of Filmfare Magazine he was asked about his position in Kollywood he said in a very cool manner that he has a good place in the industry and he wants to keep that place forever.
When he was asked about his dream for Rajini’s post he said he is not looking for his position because he thinks that he cannot be replaced by anyone. He says Rajini is still young and he is far from competition.
His style out performs everyone and he is evergreen Super Star in the industry. He said he would always be his fan.
With Pokkiri breaking all records and Azhagiya Tamil Magan opening big in nearest state Kerala, Tamil film industry is enjoying a successful run in the state and Tamil artistes are being recognized by their film industry. A recent example to this is the announcement of the Mathrubhumi film awards being organised by the Mathrubhumi newspaper which is a very popular newspaper in and around Kerala.
Ilayathalapathy Vijay has been awarded the Best Actor for his excellent performance in Pokkiri, Prabudeva was also awarded the Best Director for his direction in Pokkiri, Nayanthara was awarded the Best Actress for her performance in the movie ‘E’. Actor Vijay received the award from Malayalam superstar Mohanlal who was among the high shape celebrities gathered for the award function.
Vijay has been acquiring a big fan following in Kerala, and this announcement of the Best Actor award for him by a popular Kerala newspaper should increase his chance among the Keralite audience. Vijay Fans wishes him all success for his upcoming films and we hope that he goes on to achieve much more in the coming years.
Azhagiya Tamizh Magan started off with a hit, stutter a bit due to mixed opinions, but it now looks like the film will ultimately march towards a slow and steady success. Every different film featuring a hero who has a huge mass fan following is bound to attract mixed reviews. It will take time for the fans to adjust to the new style of film making accept by the hero.
Also the family audience seem to be taking a liking towards this thorough entertainer which has almost zero vulgarity (the Marlyn Manroe song notwithstanding!). Reports have filtered in that the crowds have kept increasing than it was a few days back thereby leading to increasing superior response. The theatre owners also are reporting that they have already recovered their print cost by the third or fourth day itself. The children also seemed to be hooked with the film and were seen discussing the story of the film as the movie kept unravelling the suspense. The crowd seems to have an common opinion that Vijay has rocked with his amazing performance.
People seem to be happy with the film. The fans after the initial disappointment seem to have revised their expectations the hard way and have now started loving ATM. The film seems to be a throw back to those old days where the performance of the film shows a big increase after all the opening week frenzy that surrounds a big budget mass hero release. All in all, Azhagiya Tamizh Magan is another success story which could spur Vijay to greater heights in his career.
Azhagiya Tamil MaganThe film revolves around Guru (Vijay), a character who is good at heart and is in love with Shriya. The first half of the film is about how they fall in love and how they convince their parents for marriage.
One gets to see lot of Vijay’s usual elements here including a well choreographed intro song. Then comes the ESP (Extra Sensory Perception) of Vijay by which he visualizes few things happening in future. It troubles him a lot and before he gets over the shock of it, he visualizes himself killing Shriya. This makes him move away from her to Mumbai. There he meets Prasad (Vijay again) whose passions are money and honey (read girls). Guru now chases Prasad to prevent him from killing Shriya. The rest of the film takes us through a roller-coaster ride of thrills and twists that leaves you entertained till the end.
Finishing Part
Ilayathalapathy Vijay in double role, with a performance like never before, he takes up the burden of the entire film on his shoulders and delivers it impressively. He pleases you as Guru in the first half and stuns you as Prasad in the second half. As Guru, his comedy timing, dance and action are very good as usual. He is the mass hero that we are used to seeing in his previous films. The intro logo of Vijay has changes in this film and its nice to see “INIYA THALAPATHY-IDHAYA THALAPATHY-ILAYA THALAPATHY”.
But it’s the villain Prasad character in which Vijay stands out in a never seen before performance. With a rocking intro and a clear difference against Guru in body language and voice modulation, Vijay slowly builds up this character taking it to greater heights with a towering performance at the climax. The previous role of Vijay in grey shades was in Priyamudan, but it was just few years after his entry into cinema when he had neither experience nor expertise to perform a negative role like this. Now he has well seasoned as an artist and it clearly shows up in ATM. His dialogue delivery is impressive in places like “Evlavo pannraom idha panna maatoma” “Naanum pokkiri thaan da” etc.
Shriya has more-than-enough of a role in a hero oriented film and has footage throughout the film. She looks gorgeous, emotes adequately and dances gracefully. She has performed really well in dance sequences. The Vijay-Shriya pair has a natural chemistry to it and the duo look really cute on screen. Namitha as such had nothing to do except for dancing in skimpy clothes in a glamorous song. The film could really have done without her character. Santhanam has evoked a few laughters in a decent and clean comedy track. All other supporting cast has done adequately, though few good actors are wasted in insignificant roles. Special mentions to Shayaji Shinde and Geetha, who got a good scope to perform in their scenes.
Ilayathalapathy Vijay in double role. The major advantage of the film is the brilliant music of A.R. Rahman which has been transformed visually into well choreographed songs. All songs are a visual treat and Vijay is brilliant as always in all the songs. Lawrence’s work in the “Ella pugazhum” song is brilliant and Vijay takes the song to greater heights with his dance. “Kelaamal Kaiyile” is a visual treat. “Madhuraiku pogadhadi” and “Valayapatti” are rich and colorful. “Nee Marilyn Monroe” is cool and sexy.
The outstanding one is however “Ponmagal Vandhal” remix which has been very well shot and edited, and comes at the right situation in the film. Another plus is the camera work of Balasubramaniyem, which has given the film the right look and feel. The visual effects are mostly well done, special mention to the double act scenes and the climax fight. Editing by Antony is crisp and brilliant, not to forget his work in Ponmagal song. The rerecording by ARR is also good.
Santhanam as the hero’s side kick is a surprise package. He has excelled in his part. Vijay as Guru and Prasad has yet again proved his penchant for comedy. But it is the negative role that surpasses. May be Vijay should try his had at a complete black character. Rahman’s musical score combined with amazing picturisation makes the songs a treat. Sadly, Nee Marliyn Monroe… an item number picturised on Vijay and Namitha in Phuket islands has faced the censor scissors! Camera work by Balasubramanian is stunning. But holds the film back a bit is it running time of nearly three hours. A little more time spet on the editing table will make the film faster paced and fun. Also passing off Hyderabad as Chennai is kind of a dampener! Having said that, ATM is a complete mass entertainer and Vijay is truly the Azhagiya Tamil Magan .
With Five days awaiting for the release of Azhagiya Tamizh Magan, Reliance has now come forward sponsoring for the promos of this film including the trailer. Print promos have already been released and the trailer is made in a more precise way.
We have interesting scraps about this film. Shakeela who has acted in enormous porn movies plays the role of her own self. Vijay comes stays as a paying guest in her house and there are more exciting scenes between them, says sources.
All the songs have come out well. But the only question is whether Rahman’s chemistry would work out with Vijay. After listening to songs, many are saying that Rahman’s music is of breathtaking, but looks strange for Vijay. Anyways we have to stay and see what happens much before release.
Vijay the Actor choose to celebrate his Deepavali with a difference.
On Thursday, he planned a mega function in which he circulated cloth, sweet and crackers to the families of over 200 auto-drivers in Chennai.
Speaking on the circumstance, Vijay said, “I have a great respect for auto-drivers. Every year I would love to celebrate myDeepavali with the ordinary people. This year, I read an article about the difficult life of auto men in a magazine. Immediately decided to do my best for them.”
The function observe several auto-drivers along with their families greet Vijay and taking photograph with the actor. They expressed their thankfulness to the actor.
Ilaya Thalapathy Vijay through his fan club has been delivering many interests activities to the needy and the neglected.
As a part of such activity, he was at Thiruvannamalai yesterday and was distributing promote schemes worth Rs 5 lakhs at a function held there. Crowds thronged the venue despite the heavy incessant cloudburst.
While speaking at the meeting, he said, “The very mention of Thiruvannamalai remind me of super star Rajini’s film Annamalai. While I was seeking an acting career, when my father asked me to act out a scene, I mouthed Rajini sir’s dialogues from Annamalai and got a chance”. To a poser on him being called the next super star, he continued his stance as usual and said, “I am glad to hear it. But only one person has the feature of being called the Super Star and that is only Rajnikanth”.
He asked the crowd to extend their investment to his forthcoming film Azhagiya Tamil Magan. Later heeding to the crowd’s wishes, he sang a song from Pokkiri and entertain them.
