The Vijay starrer ‘Azhagiya Tamil Magan’ has the hero essaying dual roles with style and elegance. The director utilizes Vijay’s enthusiasm and charm to the fullest.
Story:
Guru (Vijay) is an athlete. He falls in love with the heroine Abhinaya (Shreya). And the parents on both sides readily agree to their marriage (surprise). Vijay suddenly gets supernatural powers whereby he can see the future of people in front of him. Guru sees something bad about Shreya and leaves her and goes to Mumbai.
In Mumbai, he comes across Prasad (Vijay) a look alike of Guru. Prasad is a mean and cunning moneylender. The wily Prasad assumes the role of Guru and tries to trap Shreya. The rest of the story is about how the good and noble Guru manages to save Shreya from the evil designs of Prasad.
Performance:
Vijay in a dual role comes out with another brilliant performance. He has both grace and style to carry the film on his shoulders. Vijay as the evil moneylender also comes up with an impressive show. Shreya is beautiful and carries her role wit conviction. Sayaji Shinde and Ashish Vidyarthi’s roles are not properly etched. Namitha sizzles in her brief role. Santhanam as Guru’s friend raises some laughter with his comedy. The music by A R Rahman is good and the two songs Munnal Vada” and “Ponmagal Vandal” have been choreographed beautifully.
